Besides the normal season, the Bhutan Tourism council has classified seasons into two types based on the flow of tourists in Bhutan namely High Season and Low Season. The government of Bhutan has set the minimum price which is known as the “Minimum Daily Package" to protect and conserve the environment which is fixed. Summer and winter of June through August and December through February is low season in Bhutan. Summer is well known for the monsoon season in Bhutan. However, like in many high elevation countries in Asia, the monsoon rains usually come in the late afternoon and early evening. So, day tours in cities are still possible. Winter is the coldest time of the year in Bhutan, especially in the high mountain regions. However, the pleasant and clear weather makes the valleys and town to visit.
