Mountain flights run year-round, but the best views are generally during the clearer periods of February-May and September-December. However, astonishing tower clouds make flights during the rest of the year absolutely spectacular and do not hinder your view of the mountains at all. All flights are scheduled to take off between 6 am and 8 am so, that you can see the morning sunrise hit the resplendent Himalayan peaks.

What if it’s cloudy? Will my flight be rescheduled or refunded? Absolutely, the weather can be unpredictable, especially during the monsoon season, but time periods of February- May, and September-December see fewer weather-related cancellations. If your flight is canceled due to inclement weather, you will be booked on the next available day’s flight.

The easiest way to see the magnificent view of the Mountains in Nepal is by experiencing the mountain flight. All the domestic airlines of Nepal offer various forms of mountain flights. Normally flights are in the mornings before your breakfast and operate at all times except in the monsoon seasons of June and July. Airplanes fly along with the Himalayan range and also beyond for passengers to get a good view of the Himalayan range. The flight takes you within camera range of some of the highest peaks in the world, and cruising this close to the awe-inspiring massifs of rock and ice is an out-of-this-world experience.

To all those nonmountaineers out there, it is a perfect opportunity to see the Himalayas including Mount Everest by flying over the Majesty Himalayas.

Highlights

  1. The flight starts at 6:00 AM early in the morning
  2. Mt. Everest 20 miles from your window
  3. Witness fantastic Himalayan peaks, lakes, and glaciers
  4. 50 minutes flight with guaranteed window seat

Outline Itinerary ( 1 Days )

Day 1

Mountain flight

  • A few domestic airlines offer mountain flights from Kathmandu.

  • You will see all the peaks you’ve heard about; Langtang, Gauri-Shankar, Dhaulagiri, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, and of course, Everest.
  • The flight attendant will stop by your seat to point out and name each peak and section of the Himalayan range as you fly past at 25,000 feet.
  • Mountain flights are hour-long, so if your flight is scheduled for 6:30, you should be finished by 7:30.
