Mount Kailash (6,638m) or Gang Rinpoche in Tibetan, located in the far-west of Tibet Autonomous Region of China on the unique geographic positioning close to the border with Nepal and India having a great transboundary for movement and linkage of trade in the past.  The total area of Mt.Kailash is around 320-sq km where you are expected to walk 52km or 3 days for a circumambulation.

It is the most visited sacred destination in Tibet. Hindus considered Mt Kailash to be the abode of Lord Shiva where Lord Shiva lives there and spent his time practicing yoga, making joyous love with his divine wife Parbati, and smoking sacred herb marijuana (ganja). According to Buddhist people, it is said that Buddhism was flourished in Tibet from Nepal and India in the 7th century AD but the Lord Buddha had visited Mount Kailash in the 5th century BC.  Many pilgrimage groups from all over the world showed their keen interest in this particular site to earn Karma by making a Kora or circumambulation. Along Mount Kailash, visitors take an opportunity to experience the sacred site of holy Lake Manasarovar.

Outline Itinerary ( 10 Days )

Day 1

Group picks up at Kyerong border, overnight stay in Kyerong.

Day 2

Kyerong drive to Dzongba crossing over 5200m, it takes 5 hours driving to Saga

Day 3

Dzangba drive to Manasarovar, there you can see most beautiful landscapes, such as huge grassland, Tibetan Nomads lifestyle, Himalaya Mountains.

Day 4

Morning explore Lake Manasarovar and afternoon drive to Darchen

Day 5

Darchen trek to Drira Phuk 6-7 hours with porters or Yaks to carry bags

Day 6

Drira Phuk trek to Zutrul Phuk 6-7 hours (Dolma La pass 5610m)

Day 7

Zutrul Phuk trek to Darche 3-4 hours and afternoon rest

Day 8

Darchen drive to Dzongba hours driving via beautiful landscapes

Day 9

Dzongba drives to Kyirong crossing over 5200m, there you can see very beautiful Landscapes of the Himalaya Mountains and huge grassland.

Day 10

Morning departure to Nepal border

Useful information

To apply for visa approval before your arrival we need:

A clear, color scan of your passport along with the advance amount of US $ 350.  This must be provided to us at least 35 days prior to the arrival in Kathmandu.

Health & Altitude problems:

Traveling in Tibet involves high altitude and can be strenuous. Clients with heart and lung problems or blood diseases should consult their doctor before booking the trip. Very often the cases of altitude sickness have been reported. A simple headache, fever, loss of appetite, or stomach disorders can happen before acclimatization. Advised, drink approx. 04 liters of water per day, do not strain yourself, move slowly, breathe deeply, and take regular rests.?
