Jomsom Muktinath Trek is a perfect trip for avid trekkers who have limited time to explore Mustang. This is a short and moderate trek which is speeds up by flying between Pokhara and Jomsom. Villages of lower mustang are typically beautiful and rich in Buddhist culture, located on the bank of the Kali Gandaki River which is known for the windy valley. You will surprise with the unique landscape which is situated on the lap of Annapurna range and Dhaulagiri range with the soaring view of Mount Nilgiri. The spiritual connection of Kali Gandaki and Muktinath Temple plays an important role for Buddhist and Hindu pilgrims.
This trip is designed by Himalayan Wander Walkers to avoids the roadway and include undiscovered trail. Except for the harsh winter, this trek is possible throughout the year. Annapurna conservation and TIMs permits are required to do this trek. If you have enough time then you can extend your trek by doing lower Mustang trek as well.
Jomsom Muktinath Trek Route:
The old route was popular for its salt trade between Nepal and Tibet. This trip will take you to the headquarter of Mustang district, Jomsom by scenic flying from Pokhara. Then hike to Kagbeni where the Upper Mustang entrance point is based. Four days trek will offer you to visit holy Muktinath, Lupra (sole Bon village in Mustang), pristine Dumba Lake, and the old settlement of Thakalies, Marpha village. You will drive back to Pokhara via Tatopani and Beni along the Kali Gandaki River.

Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (827m) by tourist bus (6-7 hours)
Our trekking guide will pick you from your hotel and transfer to the Tourist Bus station around 6:30 am and the bus will depart from Kathmandu after 7:00 am. It takes 6 -7 hours to reach Pokhara.
Overnight accommodation with a BB Plan is arranged.
Transfer to airport, fly to Jomsom (2,743m) and trek to Lupra (2,900m) (2hours)
Early morning, we have a flight from Pokhara Airport to Jomsom. This scenic adventurous flight takes about 18-25 minutes passing through the world’s deepest George, presenting spectacular mountain views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna Ranges, and Fishtail with several famous peaks within the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri area from its both sides. Jomsom is the beginning point of our trek. After landing here we will have breakfast and start our trek towards Lupra village, only Bon village in Mustang which takes about 2 or 2 and a half hours walk located next to Panda Khola. We can enjoy the majestic view of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Tukuche peak while walking in the opposite direction.

Lubrak to Muktinath (3,710m), 3-4 hours
Muktinath is an important place of pilgrimage for Nepalese of both Buddhist and Hindu faiths as these two religions are intricately woven together in Nepal. We visit the main temple after lunch and tour its surrounding. We can admire the water spouts before paying a visit to a Buddhist monastery nearby.

Muktinath to Jomsom (2,743m)
After your breakfast, we will hike to Kagbeni via Jhong and Purang village which will alternative trail to avoid the busy road. From the trail, we will see the beautifully paved road and Nilgiri Mountains on the left side. We will have lunch in Kagbeni. After lunch we will visit monasteries and old buildings bypassing the spectacular allays. Finally, we will drive to Jomsom.

Trek to Marpha via Thini village and Dhumba lake
After your breakfast, we will start our trek to Marpha. We cross the Kaligandaki River on a suspension bridge and walk through the field to Thini village and we visit the snow leopard cave. After 30-40 minutes hike, we will reach Dhumba Lake. We will have lunch there having beautiful scenery of Lake. Then we will visit Kutsab Ternga Monastery and hike to Marpha.

Drive by private jeep to Pokhara from Marpha
We will take a good breakfast and we leave for Pokhara by 4 wheeler jeep to Pokhara via Beni. It will take 9/10 hours. We will have lunch on the way.

Fly back to Kathmandu from Pokhara
After having breakfast your trip starts by a drive back from Pokhara to Kathmandu by tourist Coach about 6-7 hours driving (or take a short 30-minute flight). Himalayan Wander Walkers will invite you to join in a farewell dinner in a typical Nepalese cultural restaurant.
Final departure to Home country
We are saying goodbye as your journey to Nepal comes to an end today. If you have more time you can do some shopping or sightseeing. Approximately 3-4 hours before your scheduled flight a representative from Himalayan Wander walkers will take you to the airport. On your way home you'll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.

Guiding, Food, and Lodging
In Nepal, all trekking supplies - Teahouse trekking means staying and eating in local lodges. We stay in single rooms where possible, but often you will have to share. Rooms are basic, normally just a bed with a pillow, blankets. A few have electric lights and all have a spacious dining room-lounge. We eat at teahouses and, although the food is usually plentiful and delicious, the menu is not extensive. They offer a variety of potatoes, rice and noodle dishes, as well as soup and seasonal vegetables. Beers and local spirits are often available, but that will be at your own cost. A variety of cereals, bread, and egg dishes are generally available for breakfast. There are also snacks available such as basic biscuits, chocolate, and soft drinks and in some areas, you will find fresh fruit in season. It is normal to meet your porter in the teahouse where you will stay overnight. So, pack your necessary things in your own day pack.
