Mohare Danda Trek lies in the southwest of Ghorepani Poon Hill and is a popular community-based lodging trek in the Annapurna Region which can be done within a week. 

Mohare Danda trek is also known for Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Community Trekking where the credit of this project goes to Dr. Mahabir Pun from Nagi village. He won the Magsaysay Award in 2007 for wireless internet and later after a few years he contributed to the development of tourism in his village that has high potentiality for trekking destinations. Finally in 2010 Mohare Danda Trek route came into operation with support from UNDP/EDEP and local contribution. Thereafter, the Mohare trek is marked as a must-do trek near Pokhara by many trekkers.

Variations of Mohare Danda Trek
The variations of Mohare Danda make trekkers a flexible trek by extending their trek days to different treks within Annapurna. While you are doing the Mohare Danda trek and if time permit you to trek further then you extend your trek by continuing to Khopra Ridge. Mohare and Khopra Ridge can be done in 12 Days. Still, if you have enough time and thinking to do more trek then you can prolong by trekking to popular trekking destination ABC Trek or Mardi Himal Trek with a new itinerary designed by Himalayan Wander Walkers that end at Lwang village.

Outline Itinerary ( 8 Days )

Day 1

Drive from Kathmandu (1,400m) to Pokhara (827m)

Our office staff will pick you up from your hotel in Kathmandu and escort you to the tourist bus station. You will drive to Pokhara around 6/7hrs which is 200km from Kathmandu. A beautiful valley set on the bank of Phewa Lake, Pokhara is also known for its panoramic views of Annapurna, Machapuchare (Fishtail) in the north, Dhaulagiri in the west, Lamjung Himal, and Manaslu in the east. It is smaller and much less hectic than Kathmandu which provides the perfect starting point for our trek.

Day 2

Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and trek to Purna Gaun (1705m)

  • Total Distance: 7 km walk and 42 km Drive
  • Ascent/Descent: 710m ascent 
  • Duration: 1 & Half Hour Drive – 4-5 Hours Walk

Overnight at Community Lodges.
Meal: Three times (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner)

Day 3

Trek from Purna Gaun to Lespar (2080m)

  • Total Distance: 8 km walk and 42 km Drive
  • Ascent/Descent: 300m ascent 
  • Duration: 4-5 Hours Walk

Overnight at Community Lodges.
Meal: Three times (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner)

Day 4

Trek from Lespar to Nangi village (2340m)

  • Total Distance: 9 km walk
  • Ascent/Descent: 750m ascent
  • Duration: 4-5 Hours Walk

Meal: Three times (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner)

Day 5

Trek from Nangi Village (2340m) to Mohare Danda (3300m)

  • Total Distance: 10 km walk
  • Ascent/Descent: 960m ascent
  • Duration: 5-6 Hours Walk 

Overnight at Community Lodges.
Meal: Three times (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner)

Day 6

Trek from Mohare Danda (3300m) to Ghorepani (2750m) through Poon Hill (3210m)

  • Total Distance: 6 km walk
  • Ascent/Descent: 550m Descent
  • Duration: 2-3 Hours Walk 

Overnight at Tea House.
Meal: Three times (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner)

Day 7

Trek to Ulleri (2070m) and Drive to Pokhara (800m)

  • Total Distance: 8 km walk/ 52km Drive
  • Ascent/Descent: 1950m Descent
  • Duration: 2-3 Hours Walk/ 2.5 hours Drive

Overnight at Tea House.
Meal: Three times (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner)

Day 8

Drive to Kathmandu (1300m)

After breakfast, you will return back to Kathmandu which is of 6/7 hours drive. You have the option to extend your trip to continue onto Chitwan jungle safari, rafting adventure, Kathmandu valley shopping tour, scenic Everest flight, mountain biking, and other activities.
